Q: Do students need textbooks?
A: No textbooks are required for Spanish 1 or Spanish 2.
Q: How many lessons are needed for course credit?
A: The Spanish courses consist of four Units with five parts to each unit. The units also include cultural material.
Q: Can students who have already taken a year of Spanish at their school or from another provider enroll in KET Spanish II?
A: Yes. The teacher will provide an online placement assessment to determine where the students should be placed in order to continue their Spanish studies.
Q: Are KET Spanish courses appropriate for middle school students?
A: For the 2016-2017 school year we are in the process of redesigning the Spanish courses. There will be appropriate courses for middle school students, however the exact configuration has not yet been determined. The KET Spanish teacher is available to advise principals or facilitators about the options available to best suit their students.
Q: Do middle school students receive high school credit for Spanish?
A: The local district or school decides whether middle school students receive high school credit for Spanish.
Q. Can any of the Spanish courses be taken as an independent study?
A: Yes. Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 may be taken as an independent study, however the school must award the credit and provide a facilitator.
Q. Are any of the Spanish courses offered as dual credit?
A: Yes. Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 may be taken as dual credit courses. The college credit is awarded by the Morehead State University Early College Program.
Q: Can Spanish courses be taken on a block schedule?
A: Spanish 1 and 2 may be taken on a block schedule. However from past experience we do find that students nust be very diligent in their studies in order to successfully complete a course in one semester.
