Comprehensive Review Activity

This activity is for Latin 1 students and covers material up to chapter 7 in Ecce Romani. This is an ungraded review activity. A link to an answer key can be found below.

I. Define the following:

II. Parts of Speech Recognition

Circle the nouns, underline the verbs and bracket the adjectives. Draw line to to connect any adjective with the noun it modifies.

Baiae is a city south of Rome where the Cornelian family spends their summers. The Cornelian family has two children, Cornelia and Marcus. Cornelia has a friend in a neighboring farmhouse. Her name is Flavia. The girls enjoy walking in the fields or sitting under a tree, reading and writing.

III. Singular and Plural Nominative and Accusative Forms

Give the case, number and gender (nominative or accusative; singular or plural; masculine, feminine or neuter) for the following forms:

IV. Nouns: Nominative vs. Accusative

Nominative - Used if the noun is the subject of a sentence or as a predicate nominative with a linking verb, such as "to be"

Accusative - Used if a noun is the direct object of a transitive verb or as an object of a preposition.

Activity - Look again at the passage above. List all the nouns from the passage that are in the nominative or accusative case. (Nota bene: just list the nouns that are either the subject or direct object. Ignore nouns in prepositonal phrases for now.)
